BBC Poaches top NTV’s journalist

Former NTV journalist Mercy Juma has landed on a new job with British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as a broadcast Journalist.
Mercy Juma who was working with NTV as health and science reporter covered a story about the pregnant young girls of Kwale County who were being forced to use contraceptives by their families to avoid early pregnancies.
The story gave her millage until she was recognized for her hard work by the International center for Journalist.

She was named winner of the Inaugural Michael Elliot Award for excellence in African Storytelling last week.

Mercy will be given the award and a cash prize at an event in New York on May 31. She also will spend time in U.S. newsrooms to learn new skills and share knowledge in a program run by ICFJ. The goal? To help to deepen future reporting that engages and empowers Africans
This award was established in honor of the late Michael Elliott, who was ONE’s former CEO, as well as an outstanding editor whose life was a testament to the power of storytelling to bear witness to and improve the human condition.

Mercy will be joining the long list of Kenya who are working with BBC in London among them her former colleague at nation media Brenda Wambani, Esther Kahumbi Makori, Carol robi, Catherine Soi, Antony  Irungu , Esther Namkhisa, Ferdianrd Omondi,Emaanuel Igunza, Sohie Ikenye among others.
